Looks like the weather this weekend will be nice. Come on over. Finally and at last the road is drivable. There is still water on the road east of the bridge, but that may be there for a while because of the holes and ruts. Below are a few pictures taken as we were driving out this morning. The last pictures shows the deepest of the water. Click on each picture to enlarge them.
Beautiful sunny day at Lake Mary. It's about time. I'm shaking the mold off and walking in the sunshine.
Our road is terrible but drivable. Good time to come and do some fishing.

Major Lane Ball, Jimmy Hutson and Gary Crum, Conservation Officers from the Mississippi Dept. Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks guided representatives from the U. S. Dept of Agriculture’s NRCS Office (National Resources Conservation Services). The group was here at Lake Mary to inspect the damaged Sam Field Spillway at the north end of the lake. Their group included Lee Wilson of McComb, Gary Steen of Liberty, Jeff Jones of Hattisburg, and Norman Patterson, an engineer from Hattisburg.

These pictures were taken at the weir or spillway. It shows the undermining of the weir and the breach in the levee. With the water rising, the damage to the spillway can't be seen. We haven't heard anything about getting repairs or replacement.
THE WILKINSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS DISCUSSED THE PROBLEM WITH SPILLWAY.
THIS IS AN EXCERPT FROM THE "WOODVILLE REPUBLICAN" REGARDING THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS MEETING ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 7. UNBELIEVABLE!

MORGAN SAYS LAKE MARY "NOT OUR PROBLEM"
For the second meeting in a row Fifth District Supervisor Jennings Nettles has tried to get his fellow board members to get behind him for a joint effort to try to find funding or a solution for repairing the heavily damaged Sam Field Spillway which controls the water levels on Lake Mary.
On Monday morning, December 7, when Nettles questioned other board members Board President Robert Morgan angrily replied, "Jenn, why don’t you leave this alone. This isn’t our problem. It’s in Adams County. We don’t have the money to make these repairs."
Several months ago the earthen dam on the Adams County end of the water level control structure gave way, and since that time water has been eating away at the remains of the dam.
The aging concrete and dirt structure is located on the north end of Lake Mary where water from the popular hunting and fishing attraction enters The Narrows and empties into the Mississippi River.
The boundary line between Adams and Wilkinson Counties runs through the middle of the dam, which makes the structure a joint county project. The current break is on the Adams County side of the structure.
Nettles said, "I talked to Adams County Board President Henry Watson about this matter, and he told me that Adams County isn’t doing anything about the broken dam. Mr. Watson said there is no money in the Adams County budget for this repair project. He did agree to discuss it at the Adams County Board Meeting today (Monday, December 7)."
Nettles continued, "We need to get to work on this matter. The Mississippi River has been flooding the area and as the water falls, it will cause more damage to the spillway. Then the spring rise will come, and cause more damage. We need to look for funding now so when the weather and water gets right, we can repair the damaged area."
The board took no action on Nettles’ plea for help.
THANKS GO TO JENNINGS NETTLES FOR TRYING TO HELP.
OTHER INTERESTED PEOPLE HAVE ALSO GOTTEN INVOLVED AND ARE WORKING TO GET THE BD. OF SUPERVISORS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT OUR ROAD AND BRIDGE.
